well, i believe iv made the choice to just completely rebuild my OMC outdrive for now instead of going through the 7k for a merc swap.

I figgure that should get me through another couple seasons before i purchase one of your guys boats... hint hint - badfish :)

ill keep you guys posted.

i found a couple people here in town to do the work, i settled on a guy named dave out on the northside, so if all goes well, i will let you guys know about it.

rude, im hoping i can have it done within the month. Dave said it should only take a few days, and then depending if he can get parts or has to order them, may take a week or better. after that ill be back on the water

RUDE - BTW you never called me back, did you get your lappy all sorted out, or what?

I guess i really only have KIMSWANG to blame for this new problem....

please read below to validate my "finger pointing"

..... thanks alot kim.......:headshake:

Both PB and JAP are right with respect to "Marine Motor". My neighbors Chevy 350 broke exactly like yours a few years ago, I headed for the junk yard, pulled a 350 out of a burned suburban. The engine still runs strong. Actually strong enough to brake his outdrive but that's another story. I paid $50,- for the engine at the yard. Pullled the heads, intake, cam and distributor and just mounted what we had from the old engine. Added a few extra $$ for gaskets and paint and it even looked and smelled like new. Don't make rocket science out of a boat engine that is going to run 70-100 hours a year in fresh water. If you are taking out 500+HP out of a big block pushing a 9000+lbs boat - Different story!
