I now take mine to Big Doug at Full Throttle Detail in Havasu. Did a great job on the STV...will be doing the Scarab on the 3rd of July (I hope)! :)

I think Sy's (Baja 38 Special named "Revolver") son runs a detailing business. Might want to ask him next time you run into him on the lake...

I think I'm going to need a detail too - all of the mechanics in and out of the boat - while they try to keep it clean it just isn't staying that way and is kind of a mess right now. Lord knows I didn't clean it after the last trip!
If there are any detailers out there that are worth their salt they should be posting on here!

do you know how to get in touch with him?

No, other than the fact that I run into him almost everytime I'm at the lake.. Next time I'll see him I will definately inquire. If you see him out there, just run over to him and tell him the handsome blonde guy with the white Scarab sendt you and he will accomodate and offer you a beer...:D

Speaking of guys you run into at the lake...did you hear about Jacques - the guy with the 28' Avante with the twin V8's? You know he bought my two gearcases 2 weeks ago, then had Kevin install one (the right one) on his boat by swapping driveshafts that weekend...
Well, I was heading to scuba class Sat. morning at 5:45am and saw the boat on the side of 95-S, 10 miles out of BC towards Searchlight. I send Jacques a text msg asking if he had a problem and he said he was still in bed. Someone stole his truck and the boat that night and dropped the boat off on the way out of town!
Then, he still got to the lake on Sunday and broke his LH gearcase propshaft - talk about a bad weekend!
LOL...thanx kim.
i called the guy that N4M recommended and have an appointment for him to doll it up next monday.

That is funny and sad at the same time...
I think he might need to go 25" on his mids in order not to surface and I do have a solution for him...:D

Joe @ Perfect Image will hook you up. He's a great guy and has been cleaning boats forever. His prices are reasonable and work is done on time.
He did my boat several times before I sold it :clapping: And does a better job on my RV than I can do in 3 days of bustin a$$.

Is he Mobile? and does he do motorcycles??? lol
that's the whole reason i'm going to have someone else detail it this time. it was my wife's idea. she said i was to try and do it after work and weekends i'd never get it done. joe seemed pretty straight up over the phone and was willing to work with me on getting my boat over to them and getting it picked up. it sounds like they are going to do a pretty thorough job too. outside, inside, engine, trailer. i'll let you guys know how it comes out.

if i can remember i'll ask if he does motorcycles. i asked him about being mobile, but he said because of the size of the boat it would need to come to him. i'll double check on him being mobile for other "projects". i'm going to try and stop and see him tomorrow.
i'll try and do that tonight. i'll have it uncovered anyway cleaning all of junk out of the boat. it'll be nice and dirty for him too from this last trip :) he may change his price on me when he sees it...LOL

I just called him and he said he does not do mobile details other than boats at the lake.
He does do motorcycles on site. I always clean my own bikes so I can't say how they do on bikes. The boat, RV, and trucks always look great when I pick them up. Plus Joe rides too so he knows bikes.

Let us know how it goes James!
Also what is the cost range if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking of doing the same. I had Absolute sub it out when the boat was in Havi - didn't even look like it was vaccuumed when I got it back, there was stuff on the floor - it wasn't really clean.
I don't mind spending the money if they do a great job!

He's probably too ashamed to post how dirty it is now :rollinglaugh:
i'll definitely let you know G. for my boat it's 325-350. he didn't give me a $ per foot. he just asked what kind of boat and what length, if it's faded, and if it's stored inside or outside.
i'll post up some pics :)

That seems VERY reasonable! Almost too reasonable!
Get that guy on here to post something about his business, who the hell wouldn't if they were in the boating biz here??

That's roughly $13.50/foot. About the same that Big Doug in Havi charges for board members. Sounds like a good price! :)

I have gone to Joe before and he has done a great job. I haven't had a detail since 2006. :eek3: I need to get one soon. Last time he charged me it was $10 a foot. I don't know if he has gone up since then.

Talked to James yesterday - every one of his computers is DOWN and DEAD! You may not see him on here for a bit - just FYI! I know he's working on it though.
the computers are back and working so far. still don't have the boat detailed 'cause it's still at asplund's shop. i talked to daryl today and it should be done in the next couple of days. he was waiting on parts. from there, it will head over to the detailer.

What does that include? Wash and polish? Wash and wax? Interior?
outside wash and wax, interior carpet shampoo and seats, engine compartment if it's cleaned out, trailer wash and wax.

Hmmmm, how long does it take to do that? I'm just thinking out load here, seems like a business opportunity to me.... I use about 5 hours on mine from top to bottom and that includes a round with machine polishing....
i'm picking up the boat tomorrow so i'll let ya'll know how it looks.

OUCH! :chainsaw:
i picked up the boat this morning but didn't get the chance to really check it out until just now. the outside looks great. they cleaned up the transom, outdrive and mufflers very well. there was a water line on the inside of the sponsons that is now gone along with several scuffs from the storage cover. there was a couple of pretty bad stains under the deck from a couple of lawn chairs that apparently still had water in them. those are gone. they also shampooed the carpet and it looks very nice. there are two areas i'm disappointed in. there is two scuff marks on the back seat that are still there and they did not clean the engine compartment. they cleaned the motor itself but not the rest of the engine bay. i'll call joe tomorrow to see if that was supposed to be included or if that is generally extra. i still have sand in there from our last trip along with sand in the bilge. i was hoping that would be gone. overall a very nice job and i will use them again. joe seems like a great guy and has very nice facility that seems very secure. total bill was $325. i did take some before and after pics but they are on a memory card that will not fit into my laptop. i'll get them posted in the next couple of days.
