I have been thinking about getting into riding with my son. Starting to look at what is out there and realize that I have been out of it for too long and need some guidance. For some reason, I like the Honda's (CR/CRF). Want to stay with bikes, no quads. What do all of you have? Should I be looking at 4-stroke or 2-stroke? What are the pros and cons of each? I am thinking that my son (14 yrs old, 5'-8", and 155 lbs) would fit well on a 250 and I maybe a 450 for me (5'-10" and 190 lbs). We would be riding both desert and sand dunes. Thanks.

Honda makes good bikes. I would say try to get 4-strokes, just in case they start regulating the 2-stokes in certain areas. I think a 250 would be fine for your son. You might want to look at an 80 for yourself. :Laugh_at::rollinglaugh:
A 450 should be a good bike for you.
If you hurry, you might be able to make the Glamis trip this weekend. :thumb:

I didn't say I could afford it....I am just looking into it! I am just trying to find something to do with all my spare time in the off season! :D

Stay with 4 stokes - some 2 strokes are already regulated (can only ride certain times of the year). Always had goog luck with Hondas. Now you will need a toy hauler and a better truck to haul it all in. :Laugh_at:

Nope. If I get a couple bikes they will fit just fine in the back of the truck or a small trailer. No toy hauler for me!

I'm doing a little quad shopping right now myself. This kid here has been bugging me for a couple of years now and I think she is about to win.

That is exactly why you will be getting a toy hauler. Also you and son will be going out having lots of fun - long drive home - after few times the tent gets old and moma wants to come out too anyways so what the hell may as well enjoy it while your out there :smashfreak:

I really think this is the way to go in that area though. Haul the bikes and pull the boat.
