Can some one refresh my memory on the proper pre-load on the tapered whel bearings?
Thanks

I just crank the axle nut real tight, spin the hub around a few times and then back it off and leave it finger tight. I usually pull in and out on the hub to make sure there is no end play on it. If the cotter pin holes don't line up I usually tighten the nut to the next open slot.

If you are doing all new bearings, I also like to re-check them after the first long tow. Did a Havi and back trip and got 2 more flats of a turn on the nut to one hub/bearing I just replaced.

Good tip. They will wear in and if you dont (tighten them) you can really shorten the life of your bearings.
