Had to drop off some Boat Bling product at Ultra Custom Boats down in El Cajon today so decided to make a day of it and head over to the Seaport Village and USS Midway Aircraft Museum in San Diego. For anyone interested this is a self guided tour. They give you a radio transmitter and you listen as you walk from exhibit to exhibit. Very interesting tour and very worthwhile, like you are walking through history. I would highly recommend this tour.

Here are some pics I took. For additional information go to USS Midway (http://www.midway.org/site/pp.asp?c=coIMKTMCF&b=81432[/COLOR)

Awesome pics Scott. The peeps int he background of the shop of the woman sitting in the Commanding Officers chair look thrilled that you're taking a picture. :)

And that last plane, I can't tell for sure, but might be a AT-6 Texan. Would need to see it from the side. Definitely not a Corsair. Their wings bent down, then back up from the fuselage.

Yeah, I didn't notice that until I posted the pic. The funny thing is they look all butt-hurt but the guide, the Pri-Fli and Bridge have guides, told Julie to sit there..... The cool thing about the guides and some of the other people working there to answer questions actually served on the Midway. The guide we had for Pri-Fli and the Bridge was a fighter pilot off of the Midway......

Pictures, you took, came out great Scott. It was a wonderful day. Julie thinks she is always in the Capitan's chair.:rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: And to end it up at the bar in San Diego where they filmed the bar scene from "Top Gun" made a perfect ending.

EXCELLENT PICTURES

Sounds like a good day all around.

Thanks for taking the time to post them.

Flight deck extension might be for heavies. There have been launches and recoveries of loaded C-130s on carriers. I have seen some video of it. Scary for the flight crew, but impressive non the less.:thumb:

First look I would have said it an SNJ, but it has bomb doors, so I'm pretty sure it's an Avenger.
