I've got a treo 700W but there is NO remote wipe capability (I'm told and can't find one anywhere) if it's lost or stolen. That is unless you're running MS Exchange server which I'm most definitely not.

So I'm looking at switching to that Motoroal Q - does anyone know much about them? Specifically, I'm looking for the same functionality as my 700W but I need to have some sort of security remote wipe feature also. I just don't feel confident that the password I've set up can't be breached on the 700W. But, then again, I'm paranoid about stuff like that! Look at how long it took me to figure out the towing situation on the car :insane:

G - I would talk to John (Nextel4U) and see what he has to say.

I will ask our IT guy about this.
I only sell Sprint and Nextel but I should be able to get the info you need.

Thanks, I would REALLY appreciate it! I have too much info to lose on this phone. I have Verizon right now. I love Verizon, Sprint had horrible service out here in 7 hills.

Hold down the power (on/off) button on your device.
Note: Treo 600 smartphones have two power buttons. Hold down the one on the top of the unit next to the antenna.

While holding down the power button, turn over your device so that you can see the back of it. Still holding the power button, use an unfolded paper clip or a similar small object, to gently press the RESET hole on the back (Where's the reset hole?).
When the Palm Computing Platform or Palm Powered logo appears, release the power button. Depending on your device, this logo looks like:

Note: On some devices, you may see a palmOne logo and a progress bar first. Do not release the power button until the second, circular Palm Powered logo appears.

Keep holding the power button during this screen. When you see this screen, you can release the power button.

A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld.

In response, do one of the following:
Press the UP button to complete the hard reset, erasing everything on your device
or

Press LEFT or RIGHT to begin a soft reset, leaving your data intact.
Your device will then take you through a series of screens to calibrate the digitizer and verify the time and date.

Note: A hard reset does not delete the current date and time. It does restore other settings to the factory default.

It's not resetting it that's the problem, it's the fact that if someone steals or gets my 700W there is a lot of info on there I would not want to fall into other hands. with my 650, mSafe had a remote wipe capability so I could send my phone a text message and it would remotely WIPE all info on the phone. On this one, all I have is a password. I'm looking for something more like the remote wipe. It's never far out of my site for long at all - if any! But if I lost it or it was stolen there's info on there that is pretty important.

So the question isn't the resetting of it, it's the security of it if it's lost or stolen. If I had MS Exchange Server, I would be able to remotely WIPE the device of everything, but I don't run that.
