Hey there...so I'm the F'in new guy I guess. Been in Vegas for about 5 years now. Just buying a boat for the first time. Dad always had one when I was younger, and I really miss it. So, at 29 years young, I'm buying one of my own!
Yee haa! Anyway, I've got a line on a '92 STV Pro Comp Ski out of Toronto Canada. I'll be driving up to get it on memorial day weekend. (UGH!http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Pics from the current owner are up at http://www.stvboats.com/4sale/2
So, any tips/hints for the new guy? I assume Mead will be my first outing...what's out there to watch out for? Where to go and where not to go?
Thanks guys!

Welcome aboard bro. Â*This is a great place to meet fellow local hot boaters. Â*There's plenty of things to be careful of, first and foremost are the mistakes most of us have made (if you check through the forum a bit you'll find a few). Â*For most of us, boating is a true addiction, and we hope you'll be there to share in it with us, which it sounds like you will.
First things first, be wary of Lake Mead right now, the water is really low and rental boats are coming up with all sorts of rock hits on the toon's. Â*There are many hazards which are unmarked because the water hasn't been this low in several years. Â*Be very cautious and keep an eye out. Â*If you'd like someone to go out with just drop me a pm and we'll hook up soon. Â*I can't say I'm an expert on Mead, but do know a few of the things to look out for. Â*If any of the rest of you have any ideas throw them on this thread.
I myself am 28 (almost 29) and absolutely am addicted to boating and the lakes... which is why I moved here in the first place.
Stick to the boards and you'll pick up a ton of useful info. Â*Boating is great, but blowing up your outdrive isn't (see "most expensive spring break ever" by me!!!http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Have a good one, and we'll see you on the lake!
Oh yeah, if you'd like stickers for your car or boat, send me an email at greg@lasvegashotboats.com

oh yeah, see should have stayed in bed for another good story. Who was it that once said "a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into?" Well, we all just keep pouing money into it, because it's the best thing on earth! (besides women!http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.

Nice ride there! Although I haven't been out this year..grrr...I know last year before they closed Government Wash down my buddy trashed his outdrive in the middle of the lake on a submerged rock.
Greg, what motor do you have in that sweet ride of yours? The reason I'm asking is that I have the standard 496 and was wondering about upgrades, ie. blower, exhaust, etc. to get another few ponies out of it. The problem I see is that there is not alot of room in there and I don't want to modify the seats or hatch. Later

You've got the Mag? I just have the 7.4l 454. What speed do you get out of it? I've gotten about 66 on GPS with mine, but that's with a few people and a couple of 12 packs in the cooler!

62 with 5 people and about half tanks on Mojave. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Greg, with that motor I've gotten up to about 69 with medium gear and 1/2 tanks fuel. Using bravo 1 4 blade. I want to try a standard 3 blade stainless and see what that will do.

Hey STV_Keith, welcome aboard! Nice "soon to be yours" boat. Per Greg's request, you can now see your boat in the boat gallery. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif (hit refresh or reload a couple times until you get it) That thing is pretty sweet. Guys, I hung out with lakemead1 in Vegas over the weekend, and I must say, Greg and his girl are good people. Very cool! No boating this time (too windy), just drinking. It was a great time.

Looks like Keith has some photoshop skills. Good call on the revision. It's all about team work around here. The revised pic has been posted. Also Omega1 if you're out there, your pic is up also. Nice ride btw. Next time you get it wet, get a snap and we'll update it on the site. The lake shots look sweet! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hey STV, the pic looks great but it almost looks to good, like it could be a model boat or something http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif You got the 20 inch model instead of the 20 ft. model huh? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif j/k
How many feet is it anyway?

Nah, it's the real thing (although it's a 19 footer). Â*A few more pics at: http://www.stvboats.com/4sale/2
