BADFISH II

It was great to see some of you out on Havasu this weekend and finally put a face with the name. Hopefully we'll have a bit better weather next time and more cold ones, not cold winds.
My expensive weekend. I was so stoked to get the boat wet for the first time since September I was like a kid going to Toy's R Us. My girlfriend and I got into town @3 on Friday, but it was still plenty warm and decided to put the boat in. Here's where the expensive lesson comes in.
I'd just had some work done on the boat at Offshore Marine. Unbeknownst to me, they'd left the throttle about half way up. I backed it in, jumped in the boat and while standing up turned on the ignition. VVVVVRRRRRROOOOOMMMMM!
It completely freaked me out because I was afraid of damaging the engine (the least of what my worries should have been). I snapped in probably a 10th of a second threw the wrong lever down (the throttle is on the outside, F N & R on the inside). Unfortunately you know what happens next.
KACHUNK! Reverse doesn't take kindly to half throttle. The most F'ing stupid thing I've ever done I think, all in the blink of an eye and a quick reflex - the wrong reflex.
I wasn't finished though, oh no, not me. After calling a few Merc authorized shops I found Chong's. Those guys worked until 11:30pm finding parts, pulling the engine (because I didn't just do it, I did it up good and destroyed the housing too).
A plastic card or two (or more, it was outrageous) later, Saturday morning I had my baby back, and on the lake by 1.
That has to be the most expensive spring break ever. To add insult to injury, by the time we got to Copper Canyon, it was so packed there wasn't enough room to get in, we had to stay on the outside. Anyone else get pictures?
Hope you all had a great one, and we'll see you on the lake!
Greg
