General Contractor

I need to get a quote on doing some renovation to the house - anyone know a general contractor who can give me an estimate?

I am begining construction on my house next week but if I was you I would take advantage of the resources you have right here and play contractor/owner builder yourself. What do plan on doing? For finish work, cabinets, trim work ect. Bill is your best resource. For framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, concrete ect Kurt & I can get you people. For stone, granite, tile I know a couple awsome installers. Stucco repairs would be T&B. Hey Mark do you want to do my house? Probly would be around Feb or March or so.

Was thinking about adding a loft - the fact is I just plain need MORE ROOM with the kids, the wife, dogs and all - there's no room left for ME!

Over my formal dining room there is a 20 or 25 ft. ceiling and I could add a loft there - but I'm guessing it would cost a bunch - nonetheless it would add a lot of value to the house too.

I don't even know where to start - Rich said to get a quote from a GC to see how much, then take off about 40% if I contract it out myself..

OK, here are some pics - what do you guys think? The floor would be about 9 ft. by 11 ft. - it would make a good loft for the boys, and is right outside of their room.

So what does anyone think? You guys that have experience with this stuff - what do you think it would cost? I suppose it will add about 20K in value or so to the house based on 100 ft. sq's. then I could have the other room back as an office!

BTW, my sister in law is selling her house the is on Coronado and GV Parkway. It is sweet. I would buy if I were moving back.

4800 sq feet, 4 bd, 4 bath, media room, pool, 9000sq ft lot, cassita (sp?) that has bathroom and cable internet, etc....
