Probably of no help, but I'll be working at the Bullfrog end of Powell on the 4th weekend and if "My Little Friend" happens to make a road trip up north I'll make sure to make his vacation one to remember. I'll also be in Havasu on the 12th to 14th and will watch for him then.

It isn't just Havasu but all of our public places in general. These cretins are proliferating in our society. Wherever you go you see these punks who think they can do anything they please and usually can because nobody will speak up. The thread seemed to indicate that there were spectators to the incident and no one lifted a hand to help the girls. Those that stood there are also to blame for not wanting to get involved. The MTV crowd and the "Wild on E" pukes built up Havasu to be this big party town where anything goes and women are only pieces of meat to be used and discarded. This is wrong. People need to stand up and say it's wrong. It's easy to say it's wrong on a fairly anonymous forum such as this or HotBoat or RRL or wherever but much more difficult to do so in person. Similar incidents of "punk-ish" behavior have been reported in Parker and on Mohave. It'll be coming to a lake near you soon too. You see this behaviour in our malls and on the road. It's everywhere. Lack of respect for others is but a symptom.

Totally agree! We need to change our ways and start speaking up instead of just turning the other direction. Because of what goes on at Havasu (not being too much of a family place), I will be spending more of my time at other lakes like upper Mohave and Mead.

There are still plenty of places on Havasu that are family friendly.

What happened to those kids is totally reprehensible and needs to be dealt with. Unfortunately, unless we being to police these issues ourselves the local law will need to get involved and will increase their presence all over the lakes. Although that is not necessarily a bad thing.

HD and RL are right. These pieces of shit were staying in Laughlin. Kev, I agree the sandbar can get a bit freaky at times and my daughter will be nowhere near that place when that crap is going on, but the gorge and ride up that direction towards Moabi is awesome.

There are just as many family spots in Havasu as there are on Mead, Mohave, Powell etc. Its no different. Every lake has its bad spots

Even at Cottonwood, my sister, her husband and their two little boys got threatened. They had their chairs, ice chest, etc. on a beach, they left to get some lunch at the marina and when they came back there was a family of about 12 mexicans, like gang banger down from Vegas for the day mexicans, that had thrown all of my sisters stuff in the bushes and in the water. My brother in law jumped out of the boat to ask what the fuck was going on and 4 of the mexicans were blocking him from going any further saying they just got out of jail an weren't afraid to go back and shit!!!!!!!! FUCK THEM!! He did the right thing and grabbed their stuff and left. I've never had that happen to me, so it's rare, but just goes to show that even at the most family oriented spots (which is what I think Cottonwood is) this shit can happen.
I'm a pretty mellow guy and I think I get along with pretty much everyone, but if I saw that............... I'd probably end up in jail. I DONT tolerate that shit.

HD, THOR, and RL - I agree that there still are those kinds of places down Havasu way. However, I have noticed that the crowds still exist down there. When I go to other places (Mohave and Mead), I find it easier to get away from the crowds and get back to what boating is all about....spending time on your boat and with good friends. I could not believe how nice it was on our Father's Day weekend trip to just be on a beach with only the peeps that you went out with. Something I haven't been able to do for a long time on Havasu.

Don't get me wrong here....I am not knocking Havasu. Havasu has some really nice places and can be just as I have explained above, if you go during the week. But how many of us really get that opportunity? Maybe I am getting....this is a hard word for me to say....OLD! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Now, your just getting smart. I like to cruise by the hot spots at Havasu but I have no inclination to stay. We stoped by the sandbar one time last year when there were only about 10-15 boats there, Ashlyn had a great time, but I would never take here there when there is a crowd.

Mead is dropping very fast. Still a bunch of water though, but dropping at a very fast rate. Powell is in deep shit right now and only getting worse. If I remember correctly Mead is about 4 feet away from being in official drought status.

And our friends in CO have been telling us it's been raining there a lot in the past few weeks. Somehow this drought, hopefully, will end.

The feds need to step up and start thinking about desalination plants, seriously. The unprecendented growth is just too much for the local snow runoff to feed.

It seems of late that all the water cops do is issue citations for loud exhaust. We pay these people to keep law and order.

But then again, I imagine it is a pretty thankless job sometimes and they will never be able to please everyone.

It is done a little different in Texas. The parks that you go to are owned by the county. The county parks have their own police. They really don’t care how drunk you get, as long as you are not stupid. Plus they can tell you to leave if there is a question as too arrest or not. Allot of "ethics" is put into it.

As a young man I was waiting for my brother to show up and help me set up the tent, I drank beer to the point of excess and crashed out in my Firebird with the engine running so the A/C could stay on. Police opened the door, I fell out. Told him my story respectfully, he took my information and was told not to drive. Stayed right there and there never was a problem. Needs to be more of that type of law enforcement in my opinion.

Let people have fun, but respectful of others fun. Someone’s fun might be sitting around and doing nothing in peace and quiet, others loud and drinking. That is fine. As long as the two fun seekers don’t hurt the other.

I say arrest the ones that cause the problems, question the repeat offenders. Make it known they are not welcome.

We can do this as a group fairly well. I know that if a bunch of us are at say Coley beach and some idiots show up, I will ask other MEN to help me inform them that they need to find a new place to be stupid. Let them see a unified front, not just one or two men. Inform them of the disliked actions, inform them of the consequence of repeat action and then follow thru.

You need to leave because. This action is not welcome here. If you come back and do the same think you will be asked to leave again and the cops will be notified. OR Do not come back. We have your boat numbers and descriptions of you. Thank you.

I fully intend to defend my little place of paradise. Everyone is welcome as long as there is a willingness to be social, polite and cognizant of others and their right to have fun as well.

I also don’t frequent places that tend to be too crowded. If I get a vibe about a place I am gone. Not that I am scared or anything. I can take care of myself rather well. Just want to have a good time and not have any problems. Makes life so much easier.

I have never been to the sandbar at the Zoo. Maybe never go. But I honestly believe that if the good people that go there take up this type of action and unify it would be hard for these bad people to come back. A wise man once said something about evil will press on because good men will stand by and do nothing. I believe that I am a good man, and the men in this club are good. I for one will do something.

Just my thoughts on a few things

On Mead your firearm has to be unloaded. Unloaded has a VERY open interpretation to me. Doesn't state that you can not carry it on your boat.

OK there is a whole other story on HB about this now. The thread is titled info about sandbar fight (http://www.hotboat.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51556)

Now who do we belive? I'll still take down and numbers if I see the boat but I hope everybody else does the same rather than take matters into their own hands.
Heres the new story,

Hello this is my first time on this website, so I hope everything goes well. First I Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend where ever they were. A small town I must say I live in and I'll tell you why. Sunday afternoon, I was at the channel and over heard a group of people talking about a couple girls being beat up last week at the Sand Bar. I inquired about it and began to wonder if this was the same fight my family and I saw. The guys I was talking to told me that Hot Boat magazine had a website and that the incident was all over it. Not being very good with computers, I thought Its not a big deal this guys have had one beer to many and are probably stretching the truth a little. This morning I went to a buddys house and asked If he could log me on. I read through the whole subject regarding girls getting beat up at the sand bar and was amazed how the story seemed a little one sided. Havasu47, as a father of three children, I know that sometimes in a pinch kids tend to tell little lies to cover themselves. Im not in any way calling you or your daughter liars, but I/ll tell you what I saw since I was there. I was not to far from the boats in question. In fact if I dont stand corrected your daughters group was in a "270" Hallet. The other guys were in a blue and white "Cobra" and there was a second group of guys in a deck boat, and a third in a flat bottom boat. I remember watching the group because the guys were playing catch with a foot ball and my son had asked If he could go play with them. about thirty minutes later, about 5 p.m. I saw two guys from your boat hit two other guys in the back of the head. both guys fell to the water and one was able to get up a short time later. the other guy was on his knees for a bit and was attacked by two more guys and a girl, this could have been your daughter. the girl kicked the guy who was on his knees in the face. then all hell broke out, It appeared that within seconds thirty people including girls were fighting at one point one of the guys was being attacked by two guys, it seemed as the guy could not even keep his balance and began swinging his arms. I did see a girl fall to the water. I don't think anyone tried to help because no one knew who was who, It looked like a few dozen ducks fighting for a cracker. the big guy who is referred to as the "HULK" looked like he was trying to pick up his injured friends from the water. Your daughter appeared as if she was trying to get her group together and in the boat. One of the guys from your daughters group appeared out of control. I rember him because he had alot of piecings on his face. He continued to challenge the other guys. The driver of the Cobra began gathering his boat and so did the driver of your boat. There was at least five different boats involved and I dont know what started it. I do know that there were alot of people on your boat, and I remember one of the girls yelling "Hurry before the cops come". I don't like seeing things like this happen anywhere and hope that this information can help you some way. Im glad no one was seriously injured but I would ask your daughter and friends a couple more questions before you get the wrong people hurt. Im glad that boaters are sticking together and helping each other, be safe. Mike

This guy has many details. However as somebody over there pointed out he may very well be from the My Little Friend boat and is trying to put out a fire. I don't know who to believe. Funny this guy stood there and knows all the details and got no numbers, and sounds like didn't bother to help.

Believe me, I have a shorter fuse than I care to admit sometimes, but when something like this happens its best to let the authority's handle it. The exact details will in all likelyhood never be known.

It is a very bad situation that hopefully will not be made worse by too many people getting involved. The best thing we can do is remember this incident next time any of us are out there, and do our best to avoid similar events.

If I read it right he said by the time he saw the fight, there were many people involved and no one knew who started it and didn't know who to help. I guess all you can do is try to seperate people, but I've seen that turn real ugly, real quick for the innocent person.

Either way, fighting is f**king stupid.

Good point.
