Any of you guys tow your boats with an Expedition? I am thinking about getting rid of our 03 Explore and getting a new Expedition (5.4L XLT).

Good. Believe it or not I have towed the Vortex with the explore before. Power wise it worked (V6- not much balls tho) but it gets to squirmy at times cause it does not have the weight that a full size has.

Pull ours with an Expedition, only has the 4.6 has to work a little bit on some of the bigger hills, but I'm not taking it easy on her, get up Cajon at about 60-65 no problem, as long as some ass doesn't change lanes in front of me, loose momentum and its all over.

That is true....in fact when I bought my 'burb (1996), I think gas was less than half of what it is now for a gallon. I also have NO payment....I can buy a lot of gas for what a payment would be, so I don't complain too much about the 10 mpg. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Exactly! On both parts! I've always been hard on brakes to begin with but the brakes on the 99 Suburban are inadequate, way underbraked for that size of a vehicle which causes me to go through them way too fast.

I tow my Daytona with a 2000 Expedition lowered with 22's, intake, flowmaster exh. It tows better than my Chevy dually with 454. Better gas mileage, and better power. I have owned around 20 Chevy's, and I am sad to say the 5.4 in the Ford runs WAY better than ANY of the Chevy's did.

An Expedition will be no sweat at all. I tow our Sterling with a Dodge Dakota with a 4.7L and except for long steep uphill pulls the truck does just fine. And that's with the 3.42 axle (I think) and 235 HP. The Expedition is bigger and has more HP so there won't be any problem.

For all of you Expo owner's Superchips makes a great chip. There are three additional settings Performance, Performance Tow and Economy. Comes with a programmer so you can change them around. You can only tow on perf tow but it added a lot of torque. Only downfall is it requires 91 or 92 octane. If only they made one for the boat! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

I'm surprised THOR hasn't chimed in yet. He tows with an Expedition, but the smaller V8 and hates it. If you get one, get the 5.4 and it will do more than fine. Even the small V8 is fine, as long as you're OK with semis and buses passing you. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
