View Full Version : Water Level @ Echo Bay

I dropped our boat off at Offshore Marine in Henderson over the weekend and spent the night @ the Best Western in Overton. Â*We stopped at Echo Bay Marina to check out the changes since last summer. Â*From what I can tell (hard because of the changes in the surrounding landscape) they moved the dock to make more room on the fuel dock side for docking etc. Â*They have the entire left side of the dock roped off w/ "no Parking" as they have run cables / pipes etc. Â*It looks like they may move the boat ramp so you will launch on the fuel dock side. Â*As far as the lake, water level has continued to drop. Â*There are now "islands" right out in front of the marina ! Â*This is pretty scary but I'm sure there is still more than enough water !

Just an update ....

Thanks for the update, Speedee28. I am sure that my little 25 footer will be fine if your feeling OK with your 28. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I was also there about when those pictures were taken. Yes they marked rocks, shoals, sand bars, basically the bottom. At that time the ramp was also closed and the talk was moving the marina out. Someone (I think it was Rude) said the move was cancelled. Since then, the lake has dropped about 6 more feet (reported -95 as of today). I was looking here for news from someone who launched somewhere on the lake this week; Hemminway, Callville, Echo, Overton or other.
As for me, I'm in the water, but wonder if any of my friends will be meeting me at Hallett Beach or not?...

burtandnancy -- you did not mention Lake Mead Marina. Just down the road from Hemmenway. Best ramp for handling larger boats and for amount of traffic. Also, the lake is down to about 1137 +/- as of last week. That's about 4 feet lower than last summer/fall. Hallett / LVHB beach is still a great place, just less of a horseshoe beach tucked back in from the main lake as the water goes down. Lots of beach less cove.

We were headed out today for Mother's Day ... what more could you ask for in a significant other? But both mom and one of the kids are really sick. Next weekend for sure ...

We were there a few weeks ago and launched from Lake Mead Marina with no problems and there was a 34 foot Hallett next to me that had no problems. We stopped in at calville bay and it seemed the ramp was still fine for big boats.

One thing I failed to do was take pics of Echo Bay. It is not that bad. They moved the marina out pretty far. I know they had to put some money into that dock they built. I dont think any body should have a problem. There is one semi narrow part going from ramp to marina store, but is deep. Plenty of room to tie up and plenty of room to move around. Next time I will take pics. Rude, you would have been OK there. Revolver, now that is another story. Up to about 28 foot should be good.

Isn't Mead currently on the rise? I believe Powell is in the rising mode currently and just thought Mead would follow suit. Maybe not...

Well, that settles the arguement about Echo moving out further. Such a nice place, I hated to see the ramp closed for a while.
Nordic heat - No the lakes are still dropping, currently Mead is down 95, Powell down 117' (see the AZ lake level section put up by the NPS). Somewhere around an inch a day.

Its going to take a storm of 40 days and 40 nights to get the water back to normal levels. But look at some of the great beaches showing up...
