Where should I get the Nordic wet?
I will arrive in Laughlin Thursday and was wondering should I go to Havasu or Mohave? It would be great to meet you guys and drink a cold one or two or three.

I was at Havazoo last Memorial weekend, and while fun, it was just too busy around the ramps and channel to let your guard down for long. my parents are going to be in town that weekend and we are definitely hitting the water somewhere. it will either be mead or mojave. i think it would be GREAT for them to be able to see some of the bitchin' machinery from this club. what's gonna be "the place to be" (besides the zoo)?

What I do is take the day off before the big weekend, get out to the lake and get a spot and then go home on the actual holiday. Works great. Usually leaving about the time the idiots are really getting going. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Dudes,
What the F---CK!!!! I am Dragging this bitch all the way from Denver and your all pussing out? Must be nice to be so spoiled with great weather. Guess I understand we do the same shit around here on the big weekends. Just so happens I have to take some time off around that weekend so figure I will fight the crouds for some warm weather, as it usually snows or rains here every Memorial day that I try to boat.
I will be staying in Laughlin at Harrah's, I may try to slip at Mohave and then just trailer one day or so to havasu. The boat's name is Wild Hair, 28 Nordic with red and purple graphics, come say Hello http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Water levels will be fine.

Do Not launch at Katherines Landing. It will be a 2+ hour wait to launch & retrieve.

Bone stock HP500 with a Mercury labbed 24 bravo 64MPH on gps @ 5000'.
I installed a kit from Arizona Speed that consisted of new Throttle body, msd box, flame arrestor, and ECU reprogram and picked up 3 to 4 more but it was the end of the season last year so I have not really dialled it in yet. I will bring a Labbed 26 Bravo with me to Havasu and hope to hit 75.

I had the hardest time making the decision to F--ck with the HP500 as I feel it is a killer motor, so I went this route instead of the whipple. But what the hell, I still can't run 70 at elevation so I will Whipple the PIG!!!!!
I was supposed to have the whipple installed for this weekend but ran into some financial issues and will have to wait a little longer. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

wild hair, i'm not sure how you go about putting pics up here right now, but if you can figure out how to do it you should throw a pic of your ride on here. here's a question to any of you......if you had family coming into town and they wanted to see some sites by boat would mohave or mead be better? i will need access to a beach without having to search for a long time to find a nice one. my mother really wants to see the lake and the dam but is not too interested in riding around for hours. plus i'll have my boy with us and he'll need time to run around without a lifejacket on. i don't think mohave will be as busy and the scenery would probably be a bit better, but if most of you are going to be at mead we may go there instead.

I have a pic in the members section if someone could tell me what I need to do so it attatches when I post that would be cool. Somebody mentioned not to launch at Katherines, I believe that is the ramp real close to Lauhglin. Where should I put in. Does any one recommend the river from Laughlin to Havasu? I made the trip in my old 24 but missed the channel getting on the lake and had to trailor the drive and walk the boat to deeper water, although very cool I'm not sure if I want to try this with my new boat. If I were to pull to Mead from Laughlin where should I launch? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ohboy.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Not sure but maybe somebody here knows, I think there is a restriction on horsepower for going above Willow Beach until after Memorial Day. If you wanted to show them the dam from below, you might not be able to do so till summer.

i could be wrong, but i think there is a further restriction on the days you are allowed to go up to the dam also. from memorial day weekend thru labor day (i think) there is no restriction on HP unless it's sunday or monday. on those days, powerboats are not allowed up river. if this is true, i'll more than likely go to mead on memorial weekend.

if you put in at callville, you basically head up through the narrows. take the left and start to head up into the overton arm. it's the second bay on the left side (passed the one with the porta-shitters). it used to be known as hallet beach (if that helps any).

Wild Hair...Don't, whatever you do, go to Katherine Landing for Memorial Day...big mistake. Very long lines to launch and retrieve up to two hours long! Take the time you would spend in the launch line and drive to Cottonwood Cove and see the beautiful northern half of Lake Mohave. Unless you're willing to drive - in person - to Katherine Landing a week ahead of time and rent a slip for the entire week thru Memorial Day itself you probably won't be able to get a slip. There is no advantage to launching at Katherine on a big holiday.

As for launching on the river in Laughlin itself - forget that too! The only place to launch on the NV side is the ramp at the Riverside hotel...two lanes wide and hundreds of peeps - jetskiers and boaters trying to use the same ramp. Terrible. There are ramps on the AZ side I guess though I have never tried them. The river is a mess through Laughlin and suspect in consistent depth below it.

You're looking at a two hour drive - minimum - to tow to Boulder City (Lake Mead) to launch there...I don't know Mead well so I couldn't tell you how far it is to LVHB Beach but I'd guess it's quite a ways away. You could drive farther to launch but those drive times someone else would have to tell you.

Havasu on the other hand is accessible from Park Moabi or from Needles which you should be able to get to in 45 - 60 minutes drivetime. That might be the best place to launch and enjoy the river and Havasu south.

Good luck!

PS...I never go out on the busy weekends anymore do to the craziness factor and the total number of people trying to be on the water at the same time....I have a three day weekend every two weeks so scheduling a 3 day Memorial Day trip...who needs the hassles!

Essex502,
Thank you as well for the info, I have seen the signs for Cottonwood when driving to Vegas from Laughlin, I will give that a shot. I have boated the river from the Riverside to Havasu and made it no problem, I have also woke up in Laughlin and looked out the Hotel window to see boats in the dirt that were floating the night before, Scares me. I guess I will get some really good maps and just figure it out. Thanks everyone for the advise, and remember if you see the Nordic named A WILD HAIR stop me for a brew. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I used to get a pretty good gage of the water conditions right there in Laughlin when I launched...If I could walk to the floating dock to the north of the Riverside launch ramp and keep my head above water ... the water depth was okay. If it was at my waist...then look for obstructions.

Yes it is! Done that walk a few times when I still had the Jet Ski's as the dock was the best place to tie it up. We used to day-camp on that grassy knoll to the right of the ramp. It was hilarious in the afternoon watching all of the idiots trying to load their toys - most of them pretty drunk by that time. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Echo the Kats landing thing.

The ramp I have used to get into the river south of Laughlin on the AZ side is at like a city park or something, think it was like $5, nice ramp and slower moving water than the Riverside ramp.

Just got off the phone with Echo Bay and they are booked solid so we'll be camping this go around http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Â*
