I have an in-dash GPS speedo, with a needle, not digital. Checked all the wiring and appears connected. When running at WOT it would only read 42-46mph and when clicking the top speed lever, the needle only went to 38. I know I drive a big slow barge, but it is not that slow, and I can't figure out what's wrong with the thing. Nothing over the reader, no clouds in the sky, etc. and etc.

Nordskog wants me to disconnect all and send all back as it is under warranty ... then they send me a new one to install. I want to avoid a hole in my dash for a week or three and the hassle of taking it all out and putting all back in again.

Any ideas???

Maybe you could work out a deal with them and the shop you use to remove it and replace it with a new one same day then they can send the new one to the shop as replacement?

Yeah.....do it now before your on the boat everyday! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I would just pull it out and send it in since it is under warranty. You might check all connections (maybe even unplug and replug) just make sure they are good. It also could be that the needle is getting hung up on something. What was the temp when you were out there? Maybe it just needs to be worked a little. Try turning the key on and driving it around on the trailer. Get it up above 70 or so and see if that dislodges what it is hung up on. Just some thoughts. Good luck. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Get a blower on that thing now, no self-respecting hot/performance boater would settle for a 42 to 46 mph top speed. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif j/k

Like PH said, try to work something out with a local shop and the GPS manufacturer so you can have it done in a day or two http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Don't hesitate - just yank it out and send it back! I "dicked around" for months with a defective Gaffrig (By Livorsi) speedo and finally had it replaced under warranty. Everytime I looked down at it and it was displaying "0" I had to groan! Of course, then, I towed the boat to the ramp and everything was better! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thanks for thoughts ... have now checked all the wiring again, and am going to run it around this weekend one more time to see what happens. Then it is out of there. Nordskog is willing to next day ship so I should only be down during the course of one week M-F.

Beer Hunter ... not to worry, I'm running on GPS in the low 70s when the damn thing worked properly, just want to see it when I am. Sometime this summer I'll have about 100 hours on the new engine and will be thinking of what to tweak it with next to increase performance. I'm not much for blowers as all you are doing is forcing the gas through the engine and shortening its lifespan, not to mention the heightened potential of burning a piston head or something. Switching out the heads and valves, playing with the ECU accordingly, and maybe a different cam may be next. Innovation and some others are now building reliable EFI engines without the aide of blowers up to 800+ hp at propshaft. The challenge is that once I move much beyond the current 650 hp I will need to upgrade the drive (current one is only rated for such and is already fully hydraulic), and that is an amount of money I will need to get the wife to agree to http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif.
