In July I will be making my first trip to Powell, it will be a 7 day trip going from wahweap to bullfrog. Do you guys have any tips or recommendations on what to see, beaches, or things not to forget.

If you could forward the GPS points that would be great.

Thanks

Lucky you! It's a great lake. We were just there two weeks ago. Make sure you check out Antelope Canyon near wahweap, the San Juan arm is also really cool. North into Utah near bullfrog Annie's canyon is awesome, and slickrock is pretty cool too.

The best advice I can give is don't forget your map. The mile markers are listed on the maps and that should be all you need to navigate around. The lake is HUGE and I've heard several stories of people accidentally travelling up arms of the lake only to run out of gas at the end where they realized they went the wrong way.

Not to sound like a plug, but the maps I have are pretty cool and work well. You can find them in the shop tab if you don't have one.

The water gets rough, especially later in the day so be aware, also freak storms can hit the lake, especially about now in the year. If you happen to run into one, find a cove or something for shelter and wait it out because the water can get really really nasty (I'm not sure if you're in a big boat or a small one, but even larger boats have been swamped).

Have a great time!

Welcome unHot. We went a couple of weeks ago. Towing my boat, it's about 4.5 hours from Vegas to Wahweap, of course Ms. LM1 had to stop several times for bathroom breaks, so I think it can be done in 4 hours.

Thanks for all the tips, what a place, I am in shock. It was a great tip the only crappy thing was on the second to last day I got a ticket for my boat being to loud. The legal like is 88 decimals and my boat is 91.5.

This leads me to 3 questions.

1. Is there any way to get the ticket dropped?
2. Does lake Mead, Mohave, or Havasu have any noise level restrictions?
3. If I have to install mufflers on my little 350 (volvo penta GXi DP-S) what would you guys recommend.

Thanks 24Hawaiian

not sure about that, boatcop on hotboat.net may have an answer about it though.

Mead and Mohave I think have the same restrictions. That's kind of petty if you ask me.

No clue on the mufflers

unHot, WELCOME!!! The only thing un-Hot about a boat, in my opinion, is not having one! Doesn't matter what you've got as long as you're having fun. Hell, a lot of people would say that Bass boats are "un-Hot"............ but there are a lot of bass boats that could kick my "Hot" boat's ass all day long.

24 Hawaiian, sorry to hear about the ticket. All of the other lakes have the same restrictions but they rarely enforce it. There was a guy at Mojave a couple of weeks ago with Zummies (extremely loud pipes for those who don't know) racing around outside the marina in front of the rangers and never got hassled. Go figure.

I gotta go to Powell one of these days!!!!!!

If anybody needs a place to stay while on the way to powell.
Plenty of room at my house. I'm about an hour away(a little more towing). But it's a good place to stop and party on the way http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
But the offers good as long as I'm not in Vegas at the time.
RL it would be great to have you come to powell. I could get my dad's boat and we could both be slow
