On the Lake Powell trip, Kevin managed to pinch a tire while dragging the Eliminator over a curb - five minutes later he is screaming for help over the radio.

Kurt (aka Tool Biatch) and I just happen to be within screaming range with a truck load of surgical implements.

Question is... Have you every tried to remove the Lug Bolts/Nuts on your trailer? Could you do it on a cold stormy evening in the dark?

I have since retorqued all of the wheels on my trailer and added a 1/2 inch drive and 13/16 deep impact socket to my bag-o-stuff that never leaves to truck.

Now I need a spare!

Just wanted to make sure you had a good story to talk about when we got back....and to make sure that the Tool Biatch didn't loose his skills. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

we got it done within 13 minutes.....

we had to wait for Kevin, he jacked up the trailer before loosening the lugs, so we had to wait for him to set it back down, loosen, then jack it back up....

Had Kevin followed the appropriate accounting procedure we would have been finished in under 15 seconds....

Always carry an industrial jack and tire iron. Don't carry them and you'll need them for sure, carry and you never will.

BLew a tire going 70 down the hill toward Hemenway Wall put-in and almost lost the boat. A nice guy on the road stopped and helped me out to get the spare on ... have carried the jack and etc. equipment ever since and have never needed it.

Should be part of your scheduled maintance to do the trailer also. Anti seize on the studs, spare inflated to the proper pressure. It maybe fresh water, but when dissimilar metals come in contact (Aluminum wheels, steel hubs etc) galvonic corrosion occurs. Not much, just enough to ruin a weekend. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I keep a roller floor jack in the truck with a star wrench. Also, I check the torque on the lug nuts with a torque wrench per the Extreme Trailer's recommendation at least once a year and always before any long trip. LHC house to launch ramp = 4 miles so once a season works for most of the time.

I hear ya, storage bay to Windsor is less than 1 mile - long trips are another story. Contacting Nordic now regarding a spare for the trailer. Checked the torque on my trailer this weekend, a few that I needed a pipe on the end of the breaker to break free.... I assume assembly lube is as good a anti-sieze... KC

Interesting that Nordic doesn't supply a spare tire. I'e heard this from others as well.

KC - I will bet that you could get a spare much cheaper from a trailer supply place, West Marine, or even a tire shop than buying it through Nordic. Just my .02
