When I do look, it will be for 25 or 26 ft., probably closed cabin, maybe a cuddy if big enough. Lavey, Howard, Elim, Ultra, etc. this particular one looks pretty sweet for the price I think.

You know, when I went for my test ride on my USED Eliminator, Bob Leach did the test with me. While he was driving it, he noticed that the steering gimbal was loose and looked at me and said we will tighten it up when we get back to the shop. When we got back it couldn't be tightened anymore and needed to be replaced. Bob looked at them as said...Replace it then! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif Now that is what I call customer service....and at no charge to me! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I personally have always had great service with Essex. I've heard bad things about Elminator service as well. Don't get me wrong, this news about Essex is troubling, but we also don't know the entire story, as we all don't know the whole story about what anyone says when they criticize a builder.
LM1, I agree, that seems to be a smokin good deal for that 250 Eagle. And a great looking boat as well.

I totally agree with you about rushing to judgement but when you don't return calls then you open yourself up for speculation. They'd be better off returning the calls and saying, "it's not our problem for the following reasons..." No call backs usually, but not always, means their ducking something.

And what about the owner walking away from Kurt when he was trying to talk to him about it? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif It was definately a flaw in there lay-up....just something that happens once in a while...no fault of Essex. Kurt has pictures and everything showing this from a reputable fiberglass repair shop. I don't know, but my feeling is is that Essex should have just taken care of it. Just think of the "GOOD" publicity that they would get on all the boards that Kurt is on. If they end up NOT fixing it...think of the negative impact across the boards? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Not to defend anyone involved but you are assuming that the insurance company actually DID call Essex. My wife works for a law firm where she is involved in insurance subrogation - i.e. one insurance company pays off on a claim and then sues who they feel is the real responsible party. All kinds of sh$t goes on in the background on these kinds of cases/incidents. The last thing anyone involved should want is a lawsuit to be brought as then the attorneys have to get their part of the action.
I am disappointed in how both sides (insurance and Essex) are handling this. As HD stated...I have had nothing but outstanding support from Essex on the minor warranty issues I have had.

But the seller doesn't know that! You lose substantial leverage when your money or signature on the contract is passed to the seller.

I agree with this comment completly. I cannot be absolutly sure that the insurance company has made those calls. However, when I went to talk with Steve personally, he walked away from me a said he was to busy to talk and that I should speak with the service department. He instructed me to speak with Howard, who had worked for them for all of three days at that point. Needless to say, I felt that I got the run around. I'm certainly not privy to what either side is saying other than what they tell me. I will however post the pictures as well as Havasu Barneys findings if this is not dealt with before too long. It's been a couple months now since this came down and it's getting very frustrating. I'm a firm believer of throwing out whatever info I have and letting you all be the judge. I would also welcome Essex' info. As of right now, I feel like I'm getting very little from them as well as my insurance company. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Have you made an appointment to talk to Steve or Ron face to face? I'd try that approach one last time. State clearly to them that if you cannot have the time in front of them then you will have to "escalate it to the next level" (don't use the lawsuit threat just yet - be subtle). At that meeting firmly inform them that it is "not acceptable to wait this long for a resolution". You might also want to see if your insurance agent can attend that meeting as well. Take all of the photos, surveys and other documentation with you and get a definitive answer as to Essex's official position.

Dont be hatin' on the Eliminators. As soon as one person says one bad thing about Eliminator, everyone immediately thinks they are a$$holes. Well, I have had nothing but good experience with them and my buddies who bought new would only buy from Eliminator.

It takes years to build a good reputation, and only minutes to destroy it.
You think some people would figure that out with all the ways to communicate quickly. Good news travels fast, bad news travels even faster.
