This weekend I ripped apart the rig in preparation for the trip to Lake Powell - ten hours is a long time in the truck.

Version 1.0
After we got the truck in February I proptly ripped out the factory head unit and installed my left overs from the Eliminator:
- Alpine 7998 head unit
- Alpine XM Receiver
- Alpine MRV-450 5 channel amp
- Antena Specialists XM antena
- 10 inch sub
- 4gage from batteries to the amp under the front center seat
- 1 set of JL XR 5x7 in the front door locations

Version 2.0
- Upgraded all speaker locations to MB Quart QM 218.61
- Added Dynomat inside of the door cavities and on the facing panels
- Upgraded the primary amp from 4x35+150 to an Audiobahn A4601 4x75
- Added an additional +240 amp to push the sub

Why did I waist time and money on Version 1.0.... I spend two hours a day commuting in the truck, and was it nice this morning! The kids used to ask me to turn up the "bass" for Nelli or Eminem, two minutes later the amp would shut down - now their ears bleed as the window gaskets are stessed from the movement of the windows!

I've never tried Dynomat in a boat but base dupon the results it might be of value....

Looks great, KC. My kids will be jealous....all they have to do on the trip is watch the drop down DVD player! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

It is sometimes hard to find the time to do projects, so they need to be coordinated with Karen and the kids.... this weekend Karen had to stay near the phone for implementation support so we did stuff around the house most of the weekend. This was our weekend to get everything lined up for Lake Powell.

- Water Injection installed in the boat last weekend
- Gelcoat repaired by professional this past week
- Truck stereo upgrade this weekend
- Cleaned the boat this weekend, including the engine bay and bilge
- Havasu this weekend for the trial run of the water injection

Those drop down flat panels are speedy and spendy, we use an older laptop that sits on a foot stool, line splitter for the head phones for the kids. They can watch a movie and we can listen to the stereo, no matter what the kids are also listening to the stereo!

I find that the infrared headphone system works well. Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Â*Believe it or not, the system wasn't that pricey....drop down 7" LCD monitor, DVD/MP3/CD player, infrared wireless headphones (2) installed for $650. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Well worth the cash. We used to use a car tv/vcr setup that sat on the center console between the front seats with wires everywhere for power and headphones! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif Plus the VCR tapes took up more space.....it was a pain in the a$$ to travel with that stuff. Much happier with the current setup.

We used to sing "Old MacDonald had a farm..." and look for out of state plates. Man, our kids are spoiled! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My Dad bought a long bed Ford, put a camper shell on the back, sliding window on truck and shell with a fan. He carpeted the back with 2 benches and a nice floor that could raise to a bed. We loved it. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I have a Crew Cab with leather seats - and the kids ask if they can ride in the truck bed.... go figure! I've offered to let them ride strapped to the front bumper but they have not taken me up on that one..... http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
