Does any know if it's possible to get into the Grand Canyon this year? I heard Pierce Ferry was shut down for launching, but is there still plenty of water flowing?
Any info would be appreciated.

Check out riverlakes.com. There is a number you can call about river levels.
I am planning on a Grand canyon trip in my jet later this year. All dependant on the water levels.

I think we'll try in September. Most people back off when they see all the trees sticking out of the water at Pierce Ferry. Usually means nobody but us and a few rafters coming down river. We'll have the Canyon to ourselves. We ususally go 10-20 miles past the heliport that's in there. Heard they might have gotten rid of it. Love it up there.

I am wanting to go also. Maybe we can hook up and go. There are several other jets that would be interested in something like that.
I know that you can go up to 38 miles into the canyon.

Once you get past the trees & the waterfall your home free. The river just looks shallow because it's so muddy (the Little Colorado River does that, feeding red silt to it). We had a depth finder one year & it was 6 - 16 feet deep 50 miles in. It was actually a drought year too.
I have (two) 25 gallon tanks & take (four) 5 gallon cans. I time it so I have a 1/2 tank or so by the time I'm back in Greg Basin. Just a safety factor. I top off at Temple Bar of course before heading up.
We're thinkin in September we'll go there.

Sounds like a hell of a trip. Fuel would be a factor. I always carry 15 extra with me on every trip.
Let me know what you find out about the water levels. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
