Camshaft
8 Cylinders 2 valves per cylinder (Usually) 1 Intake, 1 Exhaust = 16 bumps.
Bumps meaning the lobes on the camshaft that open and close the valves. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

No I heard a knock and slowed down and the Temp went to 240 and the motor stalled and could not get it to kick over after that once it cooled down it started right up. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Am I missing something. Maybe one for the mechanical fuel pump?? I know there is a spiral bevel cut gear for the dist.
I give up, what did I forget??
IS the other bumps from hitting your hand on something taking the timing chain and gear off???

OK, now that we know the bumps aren't some kind of STD, please explain how Red N Vegas' cam problem relates to water temperature? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

...and more importantly, Are you back on the water?

They don't relate to the overheating problem. I put a new cam and lifters in Scott's engine. The overheating is most probably from a lack of water, and the knocking that he heard; drive coupler maybe.
