Hi everyone,

In the spirit of gathering as many local (and non local) hot boaters to LVHB, I'd like to contact Hot Boat Magazine to have them cover one of our get togethers on Mead. They covered a small gathering last year for a new club Utah Hot Boat Assoc. where they got pics and a write up - they had between 15 and 20 boats. I was thinking July 4th.

I don't really want to do it unless we can get quite a bit of participation from everyone, so I was wondering who would like to and who is available to have a gathering 7/4 at mead?

RL, think you can get some of your friends involved for this?? Sounds like some killer boats.

I currently have no plans for that weekend. If we want to set this up, lemme know so I can "book it in".

That said, I'm game.

I know they have wanted to go back to Mead but were concearned about the water level for a 30 and 38 foot boat. Â*Do you think it's OK? Â*They go all of the time, so just let me know when everything is final so I can make sure they are free to jaunt up to Mead for a day. Â*I'm definitely down. Â*I'm pretty in with Jim Wilkes (V drive column in Hot Boat). Â*I don't know if he would have any pull or not, but I could talk to him if you like.

Also, I count 17 boats in the Utah picture. Â*We can beat that right?!! Â*Besides, we have to show Hot Boat how we do.................. it's Las F**kin' Vegas for cryin' out loud!! Â*So far, with LM1, dave, STV, myself and my neighbors we have 6 (maybe 8 if their brothers come). Â*Fireman, we're gonna need the Herem too!!

Fireman - you in??

RL - could you talk to him for us and see if they'll do it and what weekends work? I just hope we can get enough people in for it.

As far as launching, there were some bigger boats out there this last weekend. I would think they would be fine, but I'd like to know which ramps are best for deep water launching before they do it.

We could make a weekend out of it!

Thor, are you in?

LM1,
Do you need to ask? HELL YEH!

If you have never been to a cool regatta, they are a blast.

Wait a sec. What if we all go down to Cottonwood Cove for the 4th?? How far is it again from Vegas? I wonder how close up we could launch and then cruise down there. Any ideas?

That way we could get the bigger boats with no problem.

Any opinions?

Launch at willow and cruise down river about 30 miles or so. One of the coolest rides around. If you have never ran your boat down there, do it. The icy cold water and lower elevation makes the boat run like a striped ape.

Thor knows his stuff!! It's f**king awesome! Yeah, go around to the AZ side and launch at Willow and enjoy the ride of your life to Cottonwood (about 45 min.) 4th of July weekend Cottonwood will be like last weekend and be packed, parking wise. Willow would be a very good idea to launch and cruise down. I know they would be down for that. That way we would definitely have the HTM, the Baja, and the Scaarab, and for big weekends all of their brothers come, at least three more increadible boats.

I like that plan!!! I'll call Jim and see what he says.

Just got off the phone with Jim Wilkes. He said that Hot Boat is always willing to promote boating and clubs, but the name of the club cannot be too close to the name of the magazine. He said he will try to stop by the site tonight after work. Sounds like it should be no problem.
