I'm planning a trip to Lake Mead next month and looking for some info. Has anyone stayed at the RV resort at Callville Bay. Does it have nice facilities, and how far away are the casinos if I wanted to do some gambling. With the water so low, are the launch facilities ok for a 34' Magic. This will be my first trip to Mead, where are the hot spots and must see spot on the lake. Anyone with GPS coordinates for these spots. What is the best way to get there from Havasu - through Kingman or Needles. If I go through Kingman, are there restrictions on crossing the Dam with RV's and boats.

Thanks for any info.

Bohica, sorry it took someone so long to reply, and WELCOME!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â*Anyway, I can help you with most of your questions, but someone else on here can probably give more detail, or you can check the site: Â* http://www.riverlakes.com Â*which gives any information you could want, even speed traps that are set up!!!!!!!

Callville Bay Marina, as you can see from the map below has the most facilities of the marinas; campgrounds, gas, food, grocerie, laundry, shower, etc. Â*and I would imagine it's one of the nicest. (I would have posted the pictures but they stretched the screen)

Map of Callville (http://www.riverlakes.com/images/BoulderMapM2.gif)

I mainly go to Mojave and Havasu, so as far as sites to see, I like to go to the Hoover Dam, pretty f'ing cool over there. Â*GPS coordinates can be found Here (http://www.riverlakes.com/gps_coordinates.htm)

Vegas is 30 min. or 20 miles which ever you prefer to look at. Â*However the Reserve Casino and Sunset Station are very nice casinos too and are 15 min.

As far as driving from Havasu, going through Kingman should be fine. I usually take the Needles route, but that's the side the house is on. There aren't any restrictions crossing the dam, they just stop you and ask where you're going.

Anyway, I hope this all helps you. Â*Good luck on your trip to Mead.

Jason

BTW - 34' Magic!!!!! Â*Damn brother, nice boat! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Jason,

David and I are over here screwing around with the computer, so here's our advice.

First of all, you're smoking crack. Â*Take the 93 throught Searchlight and it's about 2.5 hours from Havasu to Mead at most.

Second of all, the reserve is a good place to go gamble, so that's the way to go!

Third, I don't know about Calville, but David says the campground is nice and a good place to go.

Allright BOHICA!!! WELCOME and thanks for stopping in. Â*It only gets better so keep checking back!

LM1 and Dave

Why am I smoking crack? What did I say wrong? Did you guys meet for dinner like you'd planned?

I've never been to any of the RV parks, but the Reserve is a cool place to stay and gamble. I think they changed the name to Fiesta. I also like to stay at the Hacienda which is a cool little cassino and is real close to the lake, also there's a launch ramp about 5-10min away. I don't believe either one has an RV park.

Thanks for the info. Â*In your opinion, how does Mead compare to Havasu. Â*Is there anyplace on the lake that compares to the channel, you know where everyone just hangs out and parties. Â*If your ever on Havasu, look me up. Â*I'm there about every other weekend. Â*I just purchased a brand new 33' Winnebago motorhome for Glamis in the fall and winter and just thought I'd take it to Mead for a shake down down trip and to check out the lake. Â*

Here's a link to my boat

I don't think there's anything on the lake that compares to the channel / sandbar. There is one place not far from Callville Bay that seems to get pretty crowded I think its called sandy beach? Maybe somebody else knows of some other places?

Bohica, don't pay any attention to LM1 and Dave saying I'm smoking crack, I think they were sucking down some of grampa's ol cough medicine when they replyed http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I have made the same drive you are about to make many times, I know what I'm talking about. I haven't smoked crack.......................... since last night! JK http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Congrats on the RV. I love those things. I want to get one too for the same reasons (glamis, etc.) If you are into riding dirt bikes I suggest two places:
- Ocotillo Wells, very fun place to ride. LONG trails through
the desert, and really fun jumps at a place called Sea
Shell Reef. Or my favorite place of all...
- Mammoth. Arguably the best moto- track in the world
and some of the most scenic trails into the mountains
you will ever see. I'm going in August and can't wait.

Hope you have fun on your trip. Hope to see you in the channel sometime!!

Waterndog,
Sandy beach is pretty cool, but it does not compare to either the sandbar or the channel, but it is the closest thing Mead has to it.

RL,
I frequent Ocotillo Wells often. Usually between x-mas and new years and thanksgiving. My parents have a 35' motorhome. I like staying in luxury.

LM1, will you be on the water sunday? If so, where? Keep your eye out for me. You know what the boat looks like. But, if any of you out there see me, dont embarass me by making me look slow, okay?

I got your number now Thor http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

We'll be out on Sun. for sure, maybe even camping Sat. night to get some boarding in early. I had two of the motorola radios and gave one to Dave last night. We'll be on channel 4 20 http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Sun. If you have one check in there.

Also, RL you are smoking crack http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I wouldn't go through Kingman to get to Vegas from Havasu. Just go through Searchlight and save a ton of time. Last time I did it with traffic and it was 2.5 hours. How long does it take through Kingman?

RL - You know I'm messin about the crack thing http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

We had a great dinner last night. Wish you all could have made it!

Riverlife,

i used to go to Mammoth in June for the races many years back. I went to Glamis for the first time in January of this year to just check it out with a buddy who's been going for 20 years. I fell in love with the place. It's just like Havasu but with sand instead of water. I went in January with no toys at all. A week later I bought a brand new Chenowth Long Travel Buggy, trailer and 2 LT80's for my 6 and nine year old girls, and now the motorhome. I told my buddy I'm pissed since he showed me what Glamis was all about, i'm totally broke now. It was bad enough spending all the money on the boat and Havasu house, it ain't nothing compared to the cash I'm spending on the Glamis toys. No complaing though, it's all about having fun and my moto in life is " Live Fast - Die Broke"

Hope to hook up with you guys soon. I live in CA also - Rowland Heights. This is going to be the first Memorial weekend I won't be in Havasu in 15 years. Wife can't take the f'd up crowds anymore, and says the kids are getting old enough to know whats really going on. Last year she overheard my 9 year old telling her freind " The girls that are getting all the beads are the one's showing their boobs". Then the guys parked next to us were screaming at the girls all day to 'show us your monkey". Right then the wife said thats it, no more Memorial weekends. I bumming big time right now.

Have fun on the lake and have a safe one.

Bohica,

Let us know when you'll be out. We'd love to hook up, and the more the merrier. And I know this crowd isn't a crowd that would be riskee ( did I spell that right? probably not, but I meant we are all family/good poeple and we'd love to meet you and the fam. without the bead throwing thing)

Welcome to LVHB and we hope you stick around!

LM1,
Where are you launching on saturday? I still am undecided whether to go to Hemmenway or Callville.

Channel 4-20. Is that on the small radios with the 38 privacy channels? I need to get a couple of those. Best buy has a pair on sale now for $40 or so.

BADFISH II

yeah, those radio's are pretty cool. I think we'll launch from Hemenway because it sounds like that will be in ok shape and the traffic won't probably be quite as bad there.

Fair enough. I have a white Expedition with nevada plates that say "35 off". It has an ELIMINATOR sticker on the back.

Keep your eyes open.
see you out there

bohica - "Live Fast, Die Broke"............. no shit!!!! Â*My Dad has started calling me Diamond Jim Brady because all of my hobbies are bank account killers. Â*I have never been to glamis but I hear it gets out of control, but I have been to Pismo Beach where I fell in love with riding (launching) the dunes. Â*Very different feeling and rush! Â*Are you going to make it to the Mammoth races this year? Â*End of June isn't it? Â*I may try to go, let me know.

LM1 - I have only taken the 95 through Needles/ Searchlight. Â*But when I was looking at the map begore I replied, it looked like the 93 through Kingman would also be fine because when it meets Mead, the 166 is right there to cut up toward Callville. Â*They looked about the same, but who knows, maybe I am crazy http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â* Â* And yes, I know you're kidding around. Â*I hope no one on here is ever serious!!!

Thor - No shit, white Expedition with "35 off", I know I have seen you a couple of times. Â*I remember my girlfriend asking me what your plates meant one time, then we saw you again and she said she remembered those plates!! Â*I think I told her it meant you were 35 and already off your rocker, or 35 years off on what you tell people your age/ weight is.............. am I right http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â*Totally kidding around! Â*But I have seen you, that part was true. BTW - what is your boat's top speed?

RL

THOR
05-22-2002, 03:45 PM
I will have to say an honest 68-70 mph.

35 off is an old water ski term.

RiverLife
05-22-2002, 06:18 PM
Trust me, you won't be the slowest boat out there. 1st of all, my boat won't even be on the water this weekend, I'll be on SeaDoos doing about 55 mph. 2nd, until I get another SS speed prop, your boat would beat me (~63mph.) but I'd smoke you off the line http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

And I knew what 35 off meant, I was just messin' with you. I told her the real meaning when she asked the 1st time. From a one time waterskiier turned wakeboarder "there's nothing like getting bouys for breakfast!"

sorry guys, excuse my naivete, but what the hell does 35 off mean?

RiverLife
05-22-2002, 11:42 PM
35 off is a term "waterskiiers" use for slalom competition. It refers to the length of the rope. Every pass they make, the rope gets shorter, "...and now Andy Maple will make the run at 35 off..." DUMBASS!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
